Bengal kittens – Personality, health and care information

Bengal cats are domestic cats and a hybrid of Asian leopard cats. They could never be delicate as they are graceful and agile with a strong muscular body. With the distinctive spotted coat, they look like a small wild cat. They were created to create a new species of domestic cats. This size of a Bengal cat is quite big as it can weigh between 8 and 15 pounds. There are huge cats weighing more than 15 pounds. Many people like to raise these domestic cats and breed bengal kittens. These cats are highly intelligent as well as active. Bengal cat is a talkative, confident and human friendly cat. It loves playing games, fetching and learning tricks. It can even adopt some destructive habits such as turning the light switches on and fishing seals out of the drains. 

Bengal cats have two fur patterns and they are spotted pattern and swirl marbled pattern. Both these patterns are tricolored with different shades and thus form unique markings. Bothe the marbled and spotted patterns of Bengals come in different colors such as brown, silver, blue and snow. Even there are some newer colors like charcoal, cinnamon and chocolate. People who like to raise bengal kittens at home can have many options to choose from. Even people can get black Bengals and they are called melanistic. It is attractive for Bengal cats to have white or light tummies like its other wild cousins. Another interesting fact about this cat is that it has a small head when compared with its body. Even it has small ears and slightly differs from its ancestors. The Bengals are agile and strong cats and they should be athletic and slim. The back legs of Bengals are little longer than front legs and this gives an arch structure to the back while they pose firmly. 

A Bengal cat is very healthy if a person has brought it from a registered and reputable breeder. The lifetime of this cat is the same as other cat species. It can live for about 14 to 16 years. There are some health problems with pedigree breeds. If you choose a breeder who is very keen in screening these things, you can spend several years with your four legged furry friend. The short and thick coats of these cats can be easily cared for by removing the dead hair every week.  Taking the cat to a shower is rarely necessary. Cat owners can brush their teeth to prevent periodontal disease. It is better to brush your teeth at least once a week. Trim the nails to prevent the cat making scratch lines on furniture and other things. Cat owners have to check their ears every week especially after they bathe them. If they find the ears dirty, they have to wipe them using a soft damp cloth or cotton ball moistened with an equal mixture of warm water and cider vinegar. It is better to keep the Bengal cat as an indoor pet to protect him or her from diseases.
